KING YUDHISHTHIRA’S LAMENTATION AND THE DEPARTURE OF BHISHMADEVA

King Yudhishthira felt miserable after his coronation as Emperor of the world. He reasoned that he was responsible for the deaths of many millions of soldiers, and he could not shake off his guilt. No one could pacify him, although he had done nothing wrong.

During Yudhishthira’s period of misery, Grandfather Bhishmadeva was still lying on his bed of arrows, and Krishna and the other Pandavas accompanied Yudhishthira Maharaja to Kurukshetra so that he could take counsel from Bhishmadeva.

Bhishmadeva spoke to Yudhishthira with great wisdom, and he appeased him at last.

Then, with Lord Krishna standing before him, Grandfather Bhishmadeva left this world as he gazed with devotion at his most beloved Lord.
