Following the Lord’s directions given in a dream, Madhavendra Puri found the Gopala Deity hidden in a bush near Govardhana Hill.

With the help of local villagers, he carried Lord Gopala to the top of the hill and installed Him in a temple.

Assisted by local priests, Madhavendra Puri bathed the Lord and dressed Him in silk garments. Then he offered the Lord an opulent feast and served His remnants to hundreds of local people.
