SAKSHI GOPALA

An old and a young brahmana, from Vidya Nagara, became good friends when they met on a pilgrims’ journey to Vrindavana.

One day in Vrindavana, while standing before the Deity of Lord Gopala, the old brahmana promised to give his daughter in marriage to the young brahmana.

After their pilgrimage, they returned home, and the old brahmana told his family about his promise. His family was furious. They only agreed to the marriage on the condition that the Deity of Lord Gopala bear witness to the old brahmana’s promise by walking all the way to Vidya Nagara from Vrindavana.

The young brahmana returned to Vrindavana, and, on his request, Lord Gopala agreed to walk to Vidya Nagara. In doing so, He proved the truth of the old brahmana’s promise. As a result, the townspeople were delighted, and the young brahmana married the old brahmana’s daughter.
